The Quay is where Poole has done its business for 800 years, and it is still a working waterfront rather than a reconstruction of one.
Getting on the water
Boats to Brownsea Island, harbour cruises and coastal trips towards Old Harry Rocks all leave from here. See boat tours.
The bridges
The lifting bridge opens on a published schedule to let masts through, and the Twin Sails Bridge crosses to Hamworthy. Both are better entertainment than they sound.
The museum and the Old Town
Poole Museum is on the Quay, free, and holds the Iron Age logboat. The Old Town runs straight back from the water.
Eating and drinking
Waterside terraces the length of it. See restaurants and pubs and bars.
Events
The Quay carries much of Poole's summer calendar and the Christmas Maritime Light Trail. See what's on and the Poole Quay area guide.
