Car Parking in Poole

Where to park for the Quay, the Old Town, the beaches and Sandbanks, and when the beach car parks fill up.

Parking is the single thing most likely to spoil a day in Poole, and it is entirely avoidable with a little planning.

Town centre and the Quay

Car parks serve the town centre, the Dolphin Centre and the harbourside, all within a short walk of the Quay and the Old Town. These are the easiest option year-round, and the Quay-side spaces go first on event days.

The beaches

Pay-and-display car parks serve Sandbanks, Shore Road, Canford Cliffs and Branksome Chine. In July and August they are full by mid-morning on any day with sun in the forecast, and the roads out to the peninsula then become a slow loop of cars looking for the same space.

The alternative

Park in town and take the bus out, or come by train and skip the problem entirely. See getting around.

Blue Badge and accessibility

Accessible bays are provided at the main car parks. Check current charges, restrictions and payment methods with BCP Council before travelling, as they change by season.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Where can you park near Poole Quay?

Is parking free anywhere in Poole?

On-street free parking is limited and usually time restricted. Assume you will pay at any car park serving the Quay, the town centre or a beach, and read the signs for restrictions.
