Poole's evening life divides between the waterfront, which is seasonal and busy, and the villages inland, which keep going all year.
The main stage
Lighthouse, Poole's Centre for the Arts, is among the larger arts venues outside London, with a concert hall, a theatre, a studio and a cinema screen under one roof. Programming runs from orchestral concerts through touring theatre to comedy and film.
Pubs, bars and the Quay
Poole Quay fills up from late spring, and on summer evenings the waterfront is the place to be. Ashley Cross is the alternative: a green surrounded by pubs and bars that does not depend on the weather.
Theatres and screens
See theatres for venues and fairgrounds for the seasonal funfairs that set up at Baiter and on the Quay. What is actually on, and when, lives in what's on.
